Hello and thanks for stumbling across my website.

I am Sumit Kumar, currently working at John F Welch Technology Centre, the research and development centre of General Electric in Bangalore. My work involves identifying new areas of research and analyzing technology trends for the different businesses of GE which include different technology domains like aviation, energy (wind, solar, thermal and nuclear), transportation, appliances, materials and inspection technologies. I am also involved with supporting the various patent related activities of GE and analyzing growth opportunities by identifying technology gaps.

I did my Masters in Thermal Science and Engineering and Bachelore in Mechanical Engineering, both from IIT Kharagpur. More about my work in this field during student days are on this page.

Apart from this my interests lie in photography and graphics designing. I can do a bit of coding too, but not much lately apart from writing some tits and bits for this website. I like to travel a lot and most of my holidays and vacations are taken up by visits to places around. Some of the nice photos I have taken can be seen here. I consider myself a big follower of cricket and take special pleasure in keeping track of all stats and records. I have also been a keen follower of Indian politics and am an avid follower of news. Off late, have also been into some reading.
